Today, we honor Private 1st Class William B. Baugh. During the Korean War on November 29, 1950, Baugh served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was part of an antitank assault squad. During a night attack along the road from Koto-ri to Hagaru-ri, North Korea, he sacrificed his life by shielding his comrades from a grenade, saving others at the cost of his own life. Baugh’s courage and selflessness earned him the Medal of Honor posthumously in 1952.
