This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Specialist Fourth Class Kenneth J. David, a radio-telephone operator with the 101st Airborne Division. On May 7, 1970, at Fire Support Base Maureen, he drew enemy fire to protect his comrades. Despite severe wounds and low ammunition, he kept fighting—covering medevacs and carrying a soldier to safety before evacuation.For this courage, his Distinguished Service Cross was upgraded, and on January 3, 2025—over five decades later—he received the Medal of Honor. Today, as we wear red, we honor his heroism and the sacrifice of all who serve.
