This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Private Bruno R. Orig, a U.S. Army infantryman with Company G, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. On February 15, 1951, near Chipyong-ni, Korea, he carried wounded comrades to safety and then manned an abandoned machine gun, holding off the enemy so his platoon could withdraw unharmed. He was later found beside his weapon, surrounded by enemy dead. For his extraordinary heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 2025.
