Today, we honor Lieutenant Colonel Charity Adams Earley, who led the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during World War II-the only all-Black, all-female unit deployed overseas. Confronting both racial and gender discrimination, her leadership was instrumental in eliminating a massive backlog of mail, ensuring that millions of letters reached American troops and significantly boosting morale during critical times.
