Today, we honor Private First Class William B. Baugh, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. On November 29, 1950, Baugh was part of an antitank assault squad during a night attack along the road from Koto-ri to Hagaru-ri, North Korea. In a moment of extraordinary bravery, he sacrificed his life by shielding his comrades from a grenade, saving their lives at the cost of his own. For his exceptional courage and selflessness, Private First Class Baugh was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1951.
