This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Captain Larry L. Taylor, an AH-1G Cobra pilot with D Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division. On June 18, 1968, in South Vietnam, then-First Lieutenant Taylor flew through heavy fire to defend a trapped four-man patrol. Out of ammunition, he landed under fire and lifted the men out as they clung to the skids—an unprecedented rescue. His Silver Star was upgraded, and on September 5, 2023—55 years later—he received the Medal of Honor. Today, as we wear red, we honor his courage and the sacrifice of all who serve.
