Today, we honor Corporal Alvin C. York, born December 13, 1887, one of World War l's most decorated heroes. During the Meuse-Argonne Offensive on October 8, 1918, York captured 132 German soldiers and neutralized enemy machine gun nests, earning the Medal of Honor. After the war, he dedicated his life to education and helping veterans. His heroism was immortalized in the 1941 film Sergeant York, celebrating his bravery and service.
