Honoring U.S. Army Specialist Donald L. Nichols

This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Specialist Donald L. Nichols of the United States Army, a 21-year-old soldier from Shell Rock, lowa, serving with the 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, lowa Army National Guard. On April 13, 2011, while deployed to Laghman Province, Afghanistan, SPC Nichols made the ultimate sacrifice when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. As we wear red today, we remember his courage, honor his service, and stand in gratitude for the sacrifice made by him and his family.
