Today, we are proud to honor Specialist Fourth Class, Leonard L. Alvarado. Alvarado, 22, was a hero in Vietnam during WWII. On August 12, 1969, while fighting enemy forces in dense jungle, he bravely moved forward despite being pinned down and wounded. He engaged the enemy, saving his platoon, and continued to fight even after being injured again. His courage and determination, despite his dire predicament, led to his ultimate sacrifice, honoring his unit and the U.S. Army.
