Honoring Lieutenant J. Wesley “Wes” Van Dorn of the U.S. Navy

This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Lieutenant J. Wesley “Wes” Van Dorn of the U.S. Navy, a naval aviator assigned to Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14 at Naval Air Station Norfolk. On January 8, 2014, at just 29 years old, Van Dorn was killed when the MH-53E Sea Dragon he was piloting crashed during a training mission off the coast of Virginia. An athlete and devoted leader, friends remembered Wes for his passion for fitness, his commitment to serving our country, and the love he had for his wife, Nicole, his sons, Jaxton and Maddox, and the family and teammates who continue to honor his memory.
