Honoring U.S. Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade Thomas J. Hudner Jr.
This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Lieutenant Junior Grade Thomas J. Hudner Jr. of the United States Navy for his extraordinary valor during the Korean War near the Chosin Reservoir on December 4, 1950. When his wingman, Ensign Jesse L. Brown, was shot down behind enemy lines, Hudner intentionally crash-landed his own aircraft in freezing conditions to try to save him. For his courage and selfless devotion, Hudner received the Medal of Honor. As we wear red today, we honor his bravery and the sacred commitment to never leave a teammate behind.
