Honoring Sergeant Joseph P. “Joey” Collette of the U.S. Army
This R.E.D. Friday, we honor Sergeant Joseph P. “Joey” Collette of the U.S. Army. A Lancaster, Ohio, native and Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, he gave his life at age 29 during combat operations in Afghanistan on March 22, 2019. Remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and ability to light up any room, Joey’s spirit lives on through his children, Blair and Cody, who carry forward his kindness, intelligence, and sense of humor. His decorations included the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, and Senior Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge. Heaven gained a hero that day.
