HOnoring U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ronald J. Shurer II
On this R.E.D. Friday at HEW Fitness, we honor U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ronald J. Shurer II, a Green Beret medic whose valor in Afghanistan saved countless lives.
During a 2008 mission in Shok Valley, Shurer braved enemy fire to treat and evacuate wounded comrades, actions for which he was awarded the Medal of Honor. Despite being shot and injured himself, he continued rendering aid for over six hours. His courage, resilience, and selflessness exemplify the highest ideals of service and sacrifice.
